Signs for your business

Channel letters for salons and barbershops

Your sign is part of the look clients come for. Choose one style for the storefront, and maybe another for the wall they see in the mirror.

Which lighting style to choose

Salon signs are seen up close, so the finish of the letters matters as much as the light.

Halo-lit letters on white background

Best fit

Halo-lit channel letters

Halo-lit is the polished choice for a salon, spa or barbershop storefront. By day the solid steel faces show your logo colors; at night each letter sits in a soft ring of light on the wall. It suits a clean, calm brand and looks good from the sidewalk.

Open-face neon letters on white background

Also a good fit

Open-face neon channel letters

Open-face neon gives you the neon look in a steel letter: a line of LED neon inside each open stroke. It works well on the feature wall behind the chairs or at the front desk, the wall clients see in the mirror and in their photos.

Other options

Front-lit makes sense if your salon is in a strip center and needs to be read from the road or the far end of the parking lot. Of the three styles, it is the easiest to read from a distance.

Planning your sign

General advice. Your drawing shows the exact sizes for your own wall.

Two walls, two jobs

The storefront sign helps new clients find you. The inside wall sets the feel of the room. They do not need to be the same style or the same size.

Inside, smaller than you think

Clients read an inside sign from the chair or the waiting area, a few steps away. Letters that look right there are much smaller than a storefront sign.

Script logos

Many salon logos use a thin script. Very thin strokes are harder to build at small sizes, so send your logo early; your drawing shows the size it needs.

Steel that matches the room

We choose the finish of the steel sides with you, to go with your mirrors, fixtures and chairs. It is shown on your drawing.

Questions from salon and barbershop owners

Can the sign go on the wall behind the chairs?

Yes. Halo-lit and open-face neon letters both work on an inside feature wall. Every letter mounts flush to the wall, with a paper template to mark the holes. Mention the wall material (drywall, tile, brick) in the notes on the quote form.

Will the light be too bright in the mirror?

Halo-lit letters send their light onto the wall, not into the room, so they look soft in a mirror. Open-face neon is a visible line of light; if it sits right behind the chairs, ask us about brightness when you request a quote.

Our logo is a thin script. Can you build it?

Send it and we will tell you. Thin strokes need enough height to be built, so script logos often need to be a bit larger than block letters. Your drawing shows the size.

Can you add "Walk-ins welcome" or our phone number?

Short lines can be added as smaller letters under your name. Keep in mind that small letters are hard to read from the street; your drawing shows how it will look before you decide.
