Signs for your business

Channel letters for your type of business

A restaurant on a busy road and an office lobby need different signs. Pick your business to see which lighting style fits, where the sign usually goes and what to plan for.

How to choose a sign for your business

Four questions narrow it down, whatever you do.

  1. Where do people first see you?

From the road or a parking lot, front-lit letters read best. From the sidewalk or inside a lobby, halo-lit or open-face neon can work.

  2. How far away are they?

Distance sets the letter height. A common rule of thumb is about 1 inch of letter height for every 10 feet.

  3. When do they see it?

If customers come early in the morning or after dark, the light does most of the work. By day, color and contrast matter more.

  4. How should it feel?

Glowing faces feel bright and direct. A halo on the wall feels calm and polished. A neon line feels lively.
