Signs for your business

Channel letters for churches

First-time visitors often arrive in the evening or on a dark winter morning. A clear name on the building helps them find the right place and the right door.

Which lighting style to choose

A church sign has two jobs: to be found from the road, and to fit the building.

Front-lit letters on white background

Best fit

Front-lit channel letters

If your building sits back from a busy road, front-lit is the clearest choice. The whole letter glows, so the name reads from passing cars after dark, for evening services, events and meetings.

Halo-lit letters on white background

Also a good fit

Halo-lit channel letters

On brick or stone, or above the main doors, halo-lit often fits the architecture better. By day the solid steel faces look like traditional metal lettering; at night a soft glow outlines each letter. It also suits a wall inside the foyer or fellowship hall.

Other options

Open-face neon has a modern, informal look. It can suit a youth room or a coffee corner inside, but it is less suited to the name on the building.

Planning your sign

General advice. Your drawing shows the exact sizes for your own wall.

Measure from the road

Many churches sit back from the street behind a parking lot. Measure from the road to the wall: the farther back the building, the taller the letters need to be.

Brick, stone and stucco

Send a straight-on photo of the facade and tell us what it is made of. The letters mount flush to the wall, and a paper template marks every hole.

Long names

If your full name is long, set the key words large and the rest smaller, or on a second line. Your drawing shows the layout before anything is built.

Inside the building

Smaller halo-lit letters in the foyer help guests know they are in the right place. Indoors they are read from across the room, so they can be far smaller than the sign outside.

Questions from churches

Our committee has to approve the sign. What can we show them?

Your drawing: letter sizes, colors, a lit preview and the price. Forward the email to the committee; nothing is built until you approve and pay.

Can the sign include a symbol from our logo?

Yes. Send it as part of your logo and it is built in the same style as the letters.

Can the new letters match our existing sign or bulletin?

Send a photo of the current sign, or the name of the font. Your drawing is made from that font or artwork.

How can a church pay?

By card, or by bank transfer (ACH) for larger orders, through a secure invoice. If your church is tax-exempt, ask us about it when you request a quote.
